An hour later down this road in the dark I travel
Thoughts accompany one another deeper into the night
How time has gone so fast at the speed of light
The nightingale sings the final concerto before the light of day
Under the moon my heart has sunk so low with the weight of wonder
How I long for my home and slumber

An angel promised is an angel guaranteed, though the angel who promised me cannot seem to see how much I bear inside of me
Slowly trudging on this weight is breaking my weaknesses and building up my strength, it's a testimony, a personal salvation so far down this road less traveled

Where is the voice who said they were my friend? They seemed to have materialized in the wind leaving a chill whisper on my cheek
Bitten so deep it stings and bleeds
I recall their promise that hangs in a thick frost around my face
A single tear freezes in the past of that time with an embrace

On and on I must go on this narrow road, walking as a soldier longing for his home
Faith in a furnace is a weakly powerful feeling
Refining my mold to fit Your beauty
A golden edging to catch the light
Here I am not at a stalemate in Your glorious delight
As long as God is with you, you're never alone
